Alternatives to spreadsheets for stock control

A spreadsheet works fine for stock control right up until a second sales channel gets added - after that, someone has to manually keep two (or five) numbers in sync, and it's only a matter of time before they drift apart.

What a spreadsheet can't do

It can't automatically reduce stock the moment a sale happens on any given channel, it has no memory of why a number changed or who changed it, and it can't tell you whether a stocktake discrepancy is real or just sales that happened mid-count.

What to replace it with

A system that gives each product one real stock figure, automatically adjusts it from sales and purchase orders, keeps a full history of every change, and can push the current figure out to every channel automatically rather than relying on someone remembering to update a cell.

How TrueSKU fits

That is what TrueSKU's canonical SKU ledger, stock movement history and controlled channel sync are built to do. The safest migration is gradual: import or create the SKU catalogue, verify listing mappings, establish opening quantities, and only then enable automated outbound updates.
